India: 1400 farmers in soup for sowing sugarcane on govt land

At a time when cane is ready to be harvested for crushing in sugar mills, sugarcane department has declared 4,700 acres of land on which the crop is standing as illegal as around 1,400 farmers have failed to present land records as proof of ownership.
